Hello I'm Steph,
For me being a full time, professional photographer is all about people. Whatever the event, the images I love are those that truly reflect those moments that we share, the feelings and emotions that we experience and want to remember.
As a wedding photographer, whether it is the moment when even the registrar was moved to tears at your ceremony, that you all laughed until you ached, that you were so radiant, it could be felt. As a music photographer when that key note from the stage resonated with the audience, or that the beer shampoo was worth it because I got THE shot of the rock star from the venue pit. For both weddings and music - if it moves you or me, then I want to capture that.
Photography is an art form, but it is also my passion. I moved from film to digital ten years ago shooting live music; bands I was mad about, music obsessive that I am. Encouraged and mentored by some great and generous talent along the way I joined Birmingham Live! a lively and challenging music site, which I now lead as organiser/editor and live music photographer. My work is regularly published.
As the opportunities presented themselves (I was asked to do wedding photography) I needed to learn and qualifications became important. I achieved a City & Guilds qualification for Portrait and Studio photography and continue to attend courses to enhance my work. Professional affiliations are also important – I am a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP).
For weddings I look to match your needs – single or multiple shooters, all day or part of the day; formal or informal. Each and every wedding is different and special. With me you can have Avant-garde, Reportage or Classic presentation, but I will always bring that something extra that brings out the joy and happiness of the day in every photograph.
For all events my operative word is professional. Where appropriate we will have a contract, and I always carry professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and of course I have more than enough of the equipment that we geeky photographers love to get the job done!
